    Business intelligence nell'impresa proattiva

    Get PDF

Rare coding variants in PLCG2, ABI3, and TREM2 implicate microglial-mediated innate immunity in Alzheimer's disease

We identified rare coding variants associated with Alzheimer’s disease (AD) in a 3-stage case-control study of 85,133 subjects. In stage 1, 34,174 samples were genotyped using a whole-exome microarray. In stage 2, we tested associated variants (P<1×10-4) in 35,962 independent samples using de novo genotyping and imputed genotypes. In stage 3, an additional 14,997 samples were used to test the most significant stage 2 associations (P<5×10-8) using imputed genotypes. We observed 3 novel genome-wide significant (GWS) AD associated non-synonymous variants; a protective variant in PLCG2 (rs72824905/p.P522R, P=5.38×10-10, OR=0.68, MAFcases=0.0059, MAFcontrols=0.0093), a risk variant in ABI3 (rs616338/p.S209F, P=4.56×10-10, OR=1.43, MAFcases=0.011, MAFcontrols=0.008), and a novel GWS variant in TREM2 (rs143332484/p.R62H, P=1.55×10-14, OR=1.67, MAFcases=0.0143, MAFcontrols=0.0089), a known AD susceptibility gene. These protein-coding changes are in genes highly expressed in microglia and highlight an immune-related protein-protein interaction network enriched for previously identified AD risk genes. These genetic findings provide additional evidence that the microglia-mediated innate immune response contributes directly to AD development

Versatile All-Optical Clock Recovery Circuit for OOK and DPSK Modulated Data Traffic

    No full text
We demonstrate the properties of an all-optical processing unit capable of clock-recovery from both OOK and DPSK modulated signals. The circuit is based on periodic sharp filtering and it is suitable for photonic integration. Independently on the modulation format, it is characterised by a tens of MHz locking range, few bits locking time and timing jitter generally below 2% of the bit time. Thanks to these features it can be employed in future optical packet switched networks

A novel all-optical header processing system based on time-to-wavelength conversion

    No full text
\u3cp\u3eWe demonstrate a novel all-optical header processing system based on time-to-wavelength conversion that requires basically four optical functions. The four optical functions are nonlinear polarization switches (NPS) based on semiconductor optical amplifiers (SOA). Experimental validations show that four different headers are distinguished at four distinct outputs at the bit-rate of 10.9 Gbit/s. The asynchronous, low optical power, high-speed operation and the potential photonic integration make the system highly scalable and therefore suitable for all-optical packet switch.\u3c/p\u3

All-optical header processor for DPSK optical packets

\u3cp\u3eThe header of pure DPSK-packets is optically processed by means of a novel multi-output asynchronous scheme. Operating at low power, the header processor does recognize two headers at two distinct outputs at 12.5 Gbit/s.\u3c/p\u3

All-optical header processing system based on time-to-wavelength conversion for pure DPSK packets

    No full text
\u3cp\u3ePresented is a novel asynchronous all-optical header processing system for pure DPSK packets based on time-to-wavelength conversion of the header information that requires only four optical functions independently of the number of headers. Experimental results at 12.5 Gbit/s demonstrate that four DPSK headers are distinguished at four distinct outputs. The system requires low optical power, is highly scalable, and allows for potentially high-speed operation and photonic integration in a single chip.\u3c/p\u3
